Perugia is a city of a thousand faces; many are the eras that have seen it as a protagonist of history. Its particular beauty consists precisely in its ability to harmonize the centuries lived with great elegance.

Once you have appropriated the historic center (a half-day visit to Perugia), you can arrange a guided tour in search of the great masters who made it great.

Certainly, to understand the particular role held by the city in the second half of the fifteenth century, it is worth remembering its geographical position between Florence, Rome and, in general, the Marche region.

The same routes taken by merchants allowed great painters to frequent and enliven the city’s cultural environment. Pietro Vannucci, known as Perugino, was undoubtedly the most famous fruit of this intense vitality.

Our visit thus allows us to learn about some of the great masterpieces of the Renaissance in Perugia.

Beginning with the Collegio del Cambio*, the most important work created by Perugino. Here is preserved the portrait of Perugino himself and, hidden among the faces of the prophets, also that of Raphael.

We will find both again in the Chapel of San Severo* in the heart of that neighborhood, Porta Sole, which even Dante had celebrated for the breadth of its panorama.

Our route reaches, at the end of the Porta Santa Susanna neighborhood, theOratory of San Bernardino with its fine facade sculpted by the Florentine master Agostino di Duccio.

Of course, still on the trail of the Renaissance in Perugia, you cannot miss a guided tour of the National Gallery of Umbria.
