The theme of this guided tour, “The Secret Rooms of Perugia,” offers a truly unique opportunity to gain access to the interior of those palaces, rarely accessible to the public, where the fate of the city and of RisorgimentoItaly were decided.

Our route through the streets of the city’s acropolis is meant to recreate that fervent climate of enthusiasms, political and social passions that drove men and women to associate in the name of an idea of freedom and a sense of belonging to the nascent Italy.

In fact, the basis of this itinerary is the idea of opening the doors of ancient dwellings whose memory is linked to some of the most important figures of Perugia’s Risorgimento, such as Nicola Danzetta and Francesco Guardabassi, who knew how to fight on the front lines.

Stories of exceptional women, such as the princess of Porta Sole or the mistress of Prince Ludwig of Bavaria, the beautiful and much-discussed Marianna Florenzi, will also be uncovered, in a journey that will lead to the discovery of absolutely unprecedented places in the city of Perugia.

During the tour, it will also be possible to see a truly unique and important document in the history of Italy’s Risorgimento: the original text of the Roman Constitution of 1849, miraculously saved and brought to Perugia by Giovanni Pennacchi and Ariodante Fabretti.

Please note: The special nature of this guided tour requires a period of preparation (at least one week in advance) to request the opening of buildings that are not normally accessible and can be done Monday through Friday.
