Lake Trasimeno, with its considerable width, is an excellent opportunity for a boat trip. It is possible to leave from Passignano, Tuoro and Castiglione del Lago to reachIsola Maggiore, which is very beautiful to visit because of its size and especially its rich vegetation.
Within the island is an itinerary between art and nature, including ancient churches, scenic trails and places related to St. Francis, who landed here in 1211, to the Castle of Donna Isabella.
Inside the small fishing village, however, women still embroider the lake’s famous lace.
