Along the Menotre Valley

RASIGLIA–smalland humble Umbrian Venice.

At Rasiglia the water accompanies us, unceasing at every step, with its murmur and purity.

The crystal clear water is the spring water from Capovena and other springs that spring right where this small medieval village stands.

It then descends into multiple channels, waterfalls and pools.

The nature that surrounds us is the unspoiled nature of the Menotre Valley along the route between Foligno and Colfiorito, along the ancient Via Lauretana.

The gentle sound of flowing water and the sight of all possible shades of blue and turquoise are the gifts Rasiglia offers travelers, reminding us of the alliance between Man and Nature that has always been fruitful.

As the tour proceeds, you will discover how those waterways have powered a wide variety of activities: from mills for grinding wheat and other grains to woolen mills for weaving and, much more recently, a hydroelectric power plant.

The medieval appearance is still that of a true encastellated village, commissioned by the powerful Trinci family of Foligno in the early 15th century.

A visit to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Grace, which was completely frescoed in the 15th century, is also a surprise.

2. From the Menotre Valley the day continues to discover another river valley, that of the Clitunno, with its famous springs and Tempietto (UNESCO site of Longobard Italy).

3. Another itinerary that combines history, nature and art is the one that follows the course of the Nera River, with the small village of Scheggino. Do not miss the opportunity to taste the famous truffle of the Valnerina.

We then continue to Sant’Anatolia di Narco and the “Melette” plateau, to discover the route of transhumance punctuated by small churches surprising for precious and rare frescoes.

Secret Umbria… for tourism “out of the ordinary” and especially away from the crowds.
